Robert Pattinson is the latest actor to don the famous cape and cowlin "The Batman."
Directed by Matt Reeves, the film follows Bats during his second year as the masked vigilante.
Pattinson is joined by Zoë Kravitz, Jeffrey Wright, and a nearly-unrecognizable Colin Farrell.

Pattinson's Batman isn't the hero fans are familiar with, yet. He's more violent and a bit scarier in his fighting techniques as he uses his crime fighting as a way to channel his childhood trauma of losing his parents.

He's not afraid to hurt criminals and that makes him a bit frightening to the people of Gotham.

During a Q&A with the cast Insider attended, Pattinson said it "was a lot of trial and error" to perfect the Bat voice.

"The more you embody the suit, the more you embody the character. It just started to come out quite organically," Pattinson said.

Zoë Kravitz is seen as Selina Kyle before she takes on the Catwoman mantle.

Also an orphan, this version of Selina Kyle is searching for a missing friend when we meet her. True to her comic character, she has a few cats — she tells Batman she has a thing for strays.

Kravitz said she "interpreted" this iteration of Kyle to be bisexual.

, Kravitz said it was nice getting to spend time on screen as Selina Kyle instead of her famous alter-ego who, in the comics, eventually becomes a master thief.

"With these iconic characters that we all love so much, it can be overwhelming in terms of, 'OK, now here's Catwoman,'" Kravitz said. "I have this wonderful opportunity to kind of slowly develop her and the audience gets to come on that journey with me."

Colin Farrell looks unrecognizable as Oswald Cobblepot.

"Oz is not yet the kingpin that he's going to become," Reeves said at DC Fandome in 2020. "The Penguin, in fact, doesn't like being called the Penguin."

Farrell told Collider the makeup took 10 to 15 people six to eight hours to transform him into the Batman villain.

His character comes from humble origins that the film doesn't get into, but that a future HBO Max series centered around the character may explore.

"He's a man who's capable of great violence, but he's also capable of great charm as well," Farrell said in an electronic-press-kit interview from Warner Bros. "There's something delightfully uncouth about him."

Andy Serkis is Wayne's butler and guardian, Alfred Pennyworth.

The actor told Uproxx he joined "The Batman" to work with Reeves again after making the "Planet of the Apes" trilogy together.

Jeffrey Wright plays a Lieutenant James Gordon.

Wright told Entertainment Weekly Reeves asked if he would be interested in playing one of Gotham's few uncorrupt police officers after meeting the director.

"I could feel his passion for the piece, and also I could hear how incredibly thoughtful he was about these stories. Then I went away and read the script, and I was in," Wright said.

In an interview with the New York Daily News, Wright said New York City's mayor Eric Adams was one reference for the role.

No stranger to Gotham City, Wright also voiced the Caped Crusader in 2021's "Batman: The Audio Adventures" podcast.

Paul Dano plays a scarier version of the Riddler named Edward Nashton.

Dano's version of the character utilizes puzzles and ciphers as he carries out a series of terrifying murders. Reeves said his take on the character was inspired by the Zodiac Killer.

Dano told The Hollywood Reporter he decided to wrap his head in Saran wrap to carry out the character's murders so there'd be no evidence.

In the comics, Carmine is the Godfather of Gotham City and goes by the nickname, "The Roman."

In "The Long Halloween" comic Bruce's father, Thomas Wayne, was a doctor who saved Carmine Falcone's life.

Peter Saarsgard is playing District Attorney Gil Colson.

Colson isn't a character from the comics so fans have speculated whether or not Colson could be a cover name if Sarsgaard is actually playing a version of Harvey Dent/Two-Face. In the comics, Dent is the Gotham City DA.

Sarsgaard's wife, Maggie Gyllenhaal, played Rachel, Bruce Wayne's love interest, in "The Dark Knight."

He recently told The Guardian we've "probably" reached the saturation point with superhero films, adding, "So, if you're going to do one, you'd better be damn sure Matt Reeves is directing it.

Bella's an original character to Reeves' film.

Lawson's second film role, the actress told THR she was nervous when she first appeared on set.

"As a newbie, as a freshman in this industry, I was really scared that when I got there, Matt (Reeves) was going to look at me and be like, 'Well, why did we hire her? What is going on? Get somebody else in the room,'" Lawson said, adding: "It wasn't that at all. I felt and still feel like I belong in those rooms."
